This Burgundy estate from the Cote de Nuits is the classic example of a partnership between two generations and two different profiles, between Francois Feuillet the businessman and David Duband, the son of a winemaker.

Unlike many entrepreneurs, Francois Feuillet did not turn to Bordeaux when he decided to invest in a vineyard but chose Burgundy instead, following his own personal preference and taste buds. From the beginning, this was going to be a labor of love and not just another business operation with an obsession for the bottom line. Understanding the region’s legendary fragmentation of plots and the scarcity of land offered for sale, Mr. Feuillet established early on a company policy of acquiring only high quality vineyards, starting in Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-Saint-Georges. He hired David Duband as his winemaker for their first vintage in 1991, when David was barely out of oenology school in Beaune but already making a name for himself as an up-and-coming young star of Burgundy, tending to the small estate started by his father in the sixties.

The domaine produced its first Grand Cru, Echézeaux, in 1998 and has continued growing to its current size, with almost 4 acres located on Grand Cru plots and 8 acres on Premier Cru. Another 12 acres complete the estate, now also present in the villages of Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-Saint-Denis, for a total yearly production of 1500 cases.
The dedication to quality doesn’t stop at the selection of vineyards and the domaine operates under a strict organic farming program along with a low-yield production policy. With twenty vintages to hone his craft, David is now reaching his full powers as a winemaker and the result today is a range of generous wines defined by straightforward power and the unmistakable nobility of true Burgundian Pinot Noir.
