The Chianti Classico territory is shared between the provinces of the two municipalities of Siena and Florence in the region of Toscana. The zone amounts to 71,800 hectares (177,500 acres), which 10,000 hectares are planted to vines.
The average annual bottle output is roughly 35 million and exported to over 100 countries.
Chianti is one of the most important wine producing regions in Italy and has 580 members in the Consorzio. The map below shows the different communes and where some of the important villages and producers are located. This map is continuing to be updated with further producers.
